READERCON IS ON THE HORIZON
Please don’t hesitate!
DEADLINE: Materials must be in the mail by Friday, July 3rd!
This is an open invitation to published authors with a physical copy of their book for sale online. Your promotional materials will be placed on the distribution table at Readercon for attendees and industry professionals to peruse throughout the weekend.
“That’s me!” says my internal monologue in a hypothetical author’s voice, “but I haven’t done physical promotion before and I’m not trying to tell on myself in front of everyone, so how do I got about doing this?
Excellent question!
We’ll answer this in two parts.
For folks with money to spend:
Moo Inc. had postcards here in three days, looks like they’ve got a ginormous selection of different options.
If you’re a dedicated Canva user, they also have a whole section for promotional ordering online.
For broke folk with postage but not much else:
Canva is still a great option for preparing your mock up, the DIY printers at Staples are still fairly cheap if you don’t have a printer at home, then get friendly with some scissors (or a paper cutter if you fancy).
If postage is a problem too, get in my DMs and we’ll figure something out.
ZINES were the most popular item during our test run at Boskone — just be sure whatever you go with that there is a QR code for purchasing your book, or for your Author/Publisher webpage if you have multiple titles.
I truly meant to have this reminder out last week, I apologize for not giving folks a more significant reminder sooner. Worry not — this is the 35th Readercon, there will be a 36th, and with any luck there will be more promotional runs in between. We’re only just beginning to work out the kinks in this process, and I look forward to finding more ways to bridge the gap between indie creators and indie eco-systems.
The name of this Publication will change to the next Promotional even once we decide on our next invasion invitation.
